Black Berry Rum Bramble

Published on Jan 6, 2018

I know, I know… that’s not how you spell blackberry, but there is a reason why I split the word in two.   And the reason is, there is more than one black berry in this gorgeous color cocktail.

The duo stars are super popular and super powerful.  Both blackberries and blackcurrants contain the highest levels of health-boosting natural compounds known as antioxidants credited with the ability to prevent or delay some types of cell damage.  That said you can go totally healthy, by making this cocktail a mocktail.   Simply substitute alcohol with blackcurrant juice.

The Bramble is a modern classic and originally was created with gin in mind.   Invented in 1984 by British bartender Dick Bradsell and it has been enjoyed by many people ever since.   Sorry, Dick, I was in the mood to improvise.  I decided to use a combo of rums – clear aged one and a spiced rum.  But what really brought this cocktail to the next level is the addition of Jägermeister which adds a rustic, herbal profile to this very complex mix.  Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
