What makes whiskey, bourbon?

The “whiskey” class frequently contains subtle but very imperative contrasts. Technically whiskey is a refined alcoholic beverage produced using fermented grain mash. The fundamental distinction among scotch and whisky is its geographic birth. Scotch is whisky (spelled without the “e”) made in Scotland, while whiskey made in the U.S.A will be called – Bourbon. Scotch is made for the most part from malted grain, while whiskey is refined from no less than 51% corn, rye, wheat, malted grain, or malted rye grain. Over that, the blend must be put away in charred oak barrels and can’t contain any added substances. The name, Bourbon, originates from a region known as Old Bourbon, what is currently Bourbon County, Kentucky.

Scotch tastes similar to bourbon, but with a sharper bite and in some cases with peaty taste. It’s a taste you either learn to love or don’t. One critical tip; while liquor won’t ruin the way wine or brew may, whiskey is helpless against corrupt age in the event that you don’t store it accurately. UV light is the enemy of whiskey, as it tends to change the beautiful mahogany color. And not only that, it also breaks down compounds within the whiskey itself, causing it to change the flavor. Experts recommend to keep it out of direct sunlight!
